What is CBD?
Cannabidiol, or CBD, is one of many natural chemicals found in the cannabis plant, known as cannabinoids. CBD isn’t the same as tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), another chemical found in the cannabis plant that can affect the brain or make you ‘high’.
CBD interacts with the body’s endocannabinoid system (ECS) – a complex network of receptors, endocannabinoids and enzymes that helps regulate many of the body’s natural processes, including metabolism, mood, and inflammation. The skin also contains elements of this system, meaning CBD can work directly where it’s applied. When used topically, it helps to soothe, calm and comfort the skin, easing feelings of tension or tightness.
